Sunday afternoon, the Nashville Predators take on the Washington Capitals in D.C. Game time is 11:30 CT.
The Capitals are a perfect 5-0 in the preseason, including a 2-1 win over the Predators last Saturday at Bridgestone Arena. Nashville’s preseason record is 3-2.
The Tennessean reported on Saturday that Pekka Rinne will be in goal for Nashville.
The Predators organization has not released the full roster for the afternoon game, but all 26 players still at camp made the trip to the nation’s capital. Neither team, Nashville or Washington, have set their opening day roster. The teams have until 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday to bring the roster down to a maximum of 23 players.
Two players on the bubble that fans could potentially see in the lineup are Sergei Kostitsyn and Jonas Andersson. As reported in The Tennessean, Coach Barry Trotz says he is still considering these two guys specifically for roster spots. However, Seth Lake reported on Twitter that Kostitsyn took a Cody Franson shot to the foot at practice, left the ice, but returned later. It will be interesting to see if he is ok to play.
This is the final preseason game for both teams so we should expect to see regular lines and defense pairings. The Capitals open up the regular season next Friday night at Atlanta. Nashville opens the regular season on Saturday night at home against the Anaheim Ducks.
