The Bridgestone Arena plays host to NCAA Division I college hockey both Friday night at 7 pm and Saturday afternoon at 1 pm.
The University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers take on the Merrimack College Warriors in back-to-back contests. Predators fans who anticipate the NHL regular season debut of local prospect Blake Geoffrion may be interested in checking out the Chargers.
Geoffrion’s two younger brothers play for the University of Alabama at Huntsville. Brice Geoffrion is a freshman forward. Sebastian Geoffrion is a sophmore at the university, and also a forward.
Merrimack College Warriors are led the 2010 college hockey and Hockey East Conference Rookie of the Year, Stephane Da Costa.
Tickets to the game start at only $10 and are only $5 with a college ID. For tickets visit the arena box office or visit bridgestonearena.com.
The games might be just the start of Music City and college hockey. At the end of November, it was reported in the Nashville Post that Nashville Predators President Sean Henry stated this weekend’s college hockey games could actually be used as the catalyst for the Arena to make a bid for the NCAA Men’s Division I Hockey semi-finals and finals, the “Frozen Four.”
Henry has experience in winning a bid for the national college championship. The 2012 Frozen Four tournament will be held in Tampa, the city where Henry worked before leaving for Nashville. The list of cities to host the Frozen Four has been determined through the year 2014. Once an invitiation has been sent out for bids on future finals, Henry has indicated the Bridgestone Arena will place a bid for consideration.
