Another year, and the song remains the same. The Detroit Red Wings are still a good hockey team. I’m sure most of you know someone or have read somewhere that this team is going to be the one that slides down the standings, or barely makes it into the playoffs, or whatever.
You won’t read that here.
If you were to look at what order you would rank forwards, defensemen, and goalies in the division 1-5, the Red Wings only lag behind in goaltending. And that’s Jimmy Howard we’re talking about, so I wouldn’t say that’s a serious problem. Sure, they lost Brian Rafalski. But they did add Mike Commodore and Ian White, which more than makes up for the loss of Lidstrom’s partner.
