Today the Nashville Predators placed forward Brian McGrattan on waivers. This doesn’t mean he’s automatically gone, though, as the Tennessean’s John Glennon noted on Twitter:
Reasoning for move: McGrattan’s 2-week conditioning stint was up in Mil. #Preds had to either bring him back up or put him on waivers.

After the acquisition of Rich Clune earlier this season, McGrattan was the odd man out among Nashville’s forwards. That was despite him having signed a new contract during the off-season. He sat out for 15 games before being assigned to Milwaukee two weeks ago for conditioning. More likely than not McGrattan will clear waivers and be able to remain with the Milwaukee Admirals to continue his conditioning stint (or even stay there for the foreseeable future). But there’s a chance that someone will pick him up. (That’s how he landed here in Nashville last season.) There’s certainly interest among some fans of other NHL teams:

If he is picked up, let’s hope it’s in the Eastern Conference where he wouldn’t have to face his former teammates this season. The last thing the Nashville Predators need right now is Brian McGrattan pummeling its players.
