Yesterday it was reported Colin Wilson had underwent surgery on his other shoulder (not the one that was injured in a game earlier in the year), today it was reported that the recovery could take longer than expected. Colin Wilson was Nashville’s leading scorer before he was placed on the IR. As of now the recovery is expected to take 4-6 months to come back from. If it is at the 4 month mark than expect Colin Wilson to be in training camp, however if he isn’t ready by then don’t expect the Predators to rush him back before he’s ready. Next year is a long season, hopefully one where the Predators can catch fire midseason as per the norm in Smashville.
It’s expected that David Poile is revamping his forward lineups for the future, so losing Wilson could play an even bigger role in free agency. It could also mean we see some guys get extended playing time before heading back to Milwaukee. It is important to note that Pekka Rinne also had surgery yesterday, however his recovery time is expect to only be four months at the most from what I understand. Still don’t be too surprised if Chris Mason is retained, or possibly upgraded based on who is out there. The other injury news from yesterday was Gabriel Bourque and Brandon Yip are both skating, and Paul Gaustad is expected to be back in time for training camp. We will keep you up to date if we hear anything more on the Wilson situation.
