NHL Stadium Series: Not So Special?

This coming NHL season the league has decided to play six out-door game, and they have chosen to call it the Stadium Series.

Well now isn’t this special? No, six games should be a crime. I don’t care about fair, or just. The Winter Classic was one of the purest forms of hockey. Almost every player has played on  a pond or lake or creek at some point. But, name me one player that played on an ocean. You can’t and that just the start of my issues with the NHL adding five extra games.

There is no excuse for having the same team play two out-door games in the same season, let alone play two games back to back.

The NHL has gone from honoring their heritage, to a cash grab. It is border line shameful.

What game is the biggest mistake?

The owners want more money. Simple as that. There’s quite a few teams that have taken losses multiple seasons in a row. This is hopefully a help to those teams. Otherwise some teams may fold in years to come. Part of the message to come from this lockout was the PA and owners being in a partnership.

The NHL lost money during the lockout. I think this series is more about getting some of that money back. 6 out door games is not a special event. If they are going to make this a yearly thing than the NHL should do a draft to see who plays in them.
