Predlines Morning Skate: Saturday Edition

Welcome to the Weekend. Let’s Skate.

TODAY Sports

Gary Bettman a name that makes some fans cringe, and big business smile. Love him or hate him chances are you have some feelings about him. He can hold his head high about the Winter Classic, but this year his baby will take a big hit. The greedy NHL has decided to have six out-door games. This is a move  I have called a cash grab before ,and it still is.

Should the NHL expand? My short answer yes. But, where two top contenders are Seattle, and Quebec City.

“It’s great to know that there’s lots of interest in having teams in places where there aren’t,” Bettman said. “But as we stand here today, it’s nothing we’re pursuing right now in any sort of organized way.”

Pro Hockey Talk has the full interview.

…the reaction of the fans, the intensity, the emotion, the excitement is off the charts, and what we’re hearing from our fans and from our clubs and from the markets in which we play is they can’t get enough of these.”

I’m sorry Bettman but, if the ice melts in LA is it still a good thing?

Close call, Tomas Vokoun almost died from blood clots. There are a few reports out there that Vokoun has considered ending is hockey career. SB Nation has more.

This is a story that could have ended very badly, and thank goodness it didn’t.  Vokoun does have a history of blood clots. He was diagnosed with a condition called Pelvic Thombophlebitis. This is truly bad new for the Pittsburgh Penguins who already have goaltender problems.

Comments attributed to him in the Czech media are not accurate. He is feeling good, will resume light workouts next week. Allan Walsh

Thank you for stopping by. Have a great Saturday.
