Welcome to the Predlines Morning Skate – November 15, 2013 edition. Glad you could join us this morning.
Toronto Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri ran over Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom and Wednesday and received a three-game suspension on Thursday. The surprising thing about that game was that Kadri received a minor for his hit on Backstrom and was ejected later in the game for hitting Mikael Granlund in the head on a check. Those are two plays not usually associated with a guy with Kadri’s skill set. He is second on the team in scoring and will miss two games against the Sabres and one against the Islanders. Kadri had been a polarizing figure in Toronto early in his career when he was not producing up to his potential. He has climbed over that hump and this rash of rough play will certainly not affect Toronto fans’ opinion of him.
Here is a good read on Magnus Hellberg and his road to Nashville and back. Apparently, he was being followed around by the local news team for a story the day he was called up to Nashville last month.
In more Nashville Predators news, Filip Forsberg was recalled from Milwaukee and Taylor Beck was sent back down. Forsberg played in 4 games for the Admirals and picked up a goal and 5 assists. Meanwhile, Beck played in 2 games and recorded no points. Check back later, we will talk about the Forsberg move more in-depth, and what the Preds need to do with him.
In the department of no new Pekka Rinne news, David Poile is still waiting to see how Rinne is progressing before making a decision about the goaltending. Rinne is scheduled to get an MRI at the end of the month that should give an updated time-table on his return. However, Poile did say that the organization would sit down after 20 games and evaluate the state of the team.
Still a chance to be named startest man/woman in the land by completing our Preds Trivia from yesterday.
