Predlines Morning Skate - November 19

Welcome to the Predlines Morning Skate – November 19, 2013 edition. Glad you could join us this morning.

The space man is back and all is right in the universe, albeit in a different jersey. The Edmonton Oilers officially recalled Ilya Bryzgalov from the Oklahoma City Barons. Bryzgalov played in two games for the Barons, he was 1-1-0 and posted a .880 save percentage and a 3.03 goals-against-average. He will have to improve on those numbers in Edmonton if he is going to help them climb from the depths of the standings.

Allan Muir at posted his NHL awards favorites after the 20-game mark. Unlike years past, there is no mention of Shea Weber or Pekka Rinne. There is a mention of Seth Jones in the Calder Trophy picture. Jones is listed behind San Jose Sharks’ forward Tomas Hertl.

This gif of Vancouver Canucks’ coach John Tortorella is making the rounds and is good for a chuckle. Tortorella is seen going ballistic after a goal was disallowed (or he might just be having a normal conversation, tough to tell with this guy).

Tortorella is in his first season in Vancouver and there are a couple guys who are still in their first two weeks on the job. Former Nashville Predators assistant coach Peter Horachek is now coaching the Florida Panthers. So far, Horacheck has led the team to a 2-3-0 record as their head coach.

The other new NHL coach is Ted Nolan, though he is not a rookie like Horachek. This is Nolan’s first time behind an NHL bench since the 2007-08 season. So far, Nolan is 1-1-0 in his return .

Thanks for stopping by this morning. Check back a little later for a preview of tonight’s Predators-Red Wings game.
