Predlines Morning Skate – November 20

Welcome to the Predlines Morning Skate – November 20, 2013 edition. Glad you could join us this morning.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

The Olympics are just around the corner and Nashville Predators General Manager David Poile has to worry about building a roster for the US Olympic team in addition to keeping the Preds above water. Poile recently told NHL.com that Seth Jones was still in the running. While it would be a long shot, it would be a great experience for Jones.

Martin St. Louis played in his 1000th NHL game last night. This is a pretty impressive milestone for any player, let along an undrafted forward generously listed at 5’8″. St. Louis is only the 16th undrafted player to reach this milestone. In his 1000 games, St. Louis has tallied 932 points and picked up a couple of Art Ross Trophys along the way.

Allan Muir posted his week seven NHL power rankings and has the Preds ranked 17th. Even with the Preds thumping of the Blackhawks, Muir still moved them up to number 2.

Let’s continue to revel in the 7-2 win for at least one more day. Here is the recap from our colleagues over at Blackhawkup.com.

Marek Mazanec recorded his first NHL shutout last night in his fifth NHL game. While that is pretty early in ones career, twenty goalies have recorded a shutout in their first NHL (or WHA) game.

Thanks for stopping by this morning.
