Predlines Morning Skate - November 27

Welcome to the Predlines Morning Skate – November 27, 2013 edition. Glad you could join us this morning.

In Tuesday’s Morning Skate, we included a link to the Forbes Magazine valuation of the 30 NHL franchises. That report will need some updating after yesterday’s big news. The NHL announced a huge TV deal with Rogers Communications to broadcast games in Canada. The deal doesn’t affect too many viewers in Nashville, but it will put $173 million into the Preds’ coffers over the 12 years of the deal. For a team that has been consistently losing money, that will be a nice boost. Also, the timing of the deal coincides nicely with the term of the Preds’ current big contracts. It should ensure the team can continue to afford to bring in quality free agents around Shea Weber and Pekka Rinne. released a projected roster for the US Olympic hockey team. They have Seth Jones listed as the number eight defenseman on the roster. A ton of these projections will come out over the next couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see how many include Jones and if he gains any momentum going into the roster deadline.

Former Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Suter will be a staple on the American blue line and likely the only Preds connection beyond David Poile. However, if Poile sees this video he might just have to add a couple more Predators to the roster.

In other multimedia news, Christmas cards for the Preds are in the mail. If you did not make the list this year, you can check out the Christmas card here.

Thanks for stopping by this morning. Be sure to check in with us later today for a preview of tonight’s Predators game against the Blue Jackets.
