Predlines Morning Skate - November 30

Welcome to the Predlines Morning Skate – November 30, 2013 edition. Glad you could join us this morning.

NHL.com released its proposed roster for the Russian Olympic team on Friday. While the team does not have any current Nashville Predators, it will likely include Alexander Radulov (a name that probably leaves a sour taste in many Nashville mouths). The Russian Olympic hockey team will be under intense scrutiny and pressure as the host country. NHL fans will also likely get a glimpse of the recently ‘retired’ Ilya Kovalchuk.

In case you missed it, here is video of Predators’ captain Shea Weber taking a puck to the face during Thursday’s game. Weber left the game in the second period and did not return for the third. He left the arena during the third period and headed to the Hospital for evaluation. The Preds have him listed as day-to-day and have not provided an update yet. Losing Weber for an extended period of time would be catastrophic.

The Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks took 11 rounds in the shootout to decide a winner yesterday. The scariest part is that with all of that talent, Dallas mustered 1 goal in 11 tries, while Chicago’s 2nd goal in the 11th round was the winner.

Kelly Hrudey posted a list of his top ten goaltenders by conference and has Predators’ goalie Marek Mazanec at number 7. Mazanec is ranked ahead of Jaroslav Halak, among others.

Thanks for stopping by this morning. Check back later for a preview of the tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers at Bridgestone Arena.
