Welcome to the Predlines Morning Skate – December 4, 2013 edition. Glad you could join us this morning.
Nashville Predators’ goaltender Marek Mazanec was named the NHL’s Rookie of the Month for November. Mazanec had a 5-4-1 record with a 2.00 goals-against average, .932 save percentage and two shutouts in 11 games. Since making his NHL debut in a relief appearance, Mazanec has started eleven consecutive games for the Preds and allowed them to stay above water while waiting to hear about Pekka Rinne‘s timeline for returning to the lineup.
The Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks unveiled the jerseys they would be wearing in their upcoming outdoor game. They have not received the same type of positive response as the other outdoor jerseys that have been revealed. Personally, I was hoping for the old purple and gold for the Kings and maybe some D-5 jerseys for the Ducks.
He is probably doing all right anyways, but the NHL has reached an agreement to pay Wayne Gretzky the money he is owed from the Coyotes’ debacle. While Gretzky certainly doesn’t need the money, many inside and out of the league felt like this needed to happen to smooth over relations with the Great One and allow the NHL to try and bring him back into the spotlight to help promote the game.
Thanks for stopping by this morning.
