Predators Injury Update: Pekka Rinne

A few minutes ago, general manager David Poile gave an update on Pekka Rinne’s injury status. Poile said the MRI Rinne had today, in a general sense, returned positive results.

The only GM the Predators franchise has ever known, went on to say that the infection in Rinne’s hip is a unique situation so it’s tough to provide an exact date on when the team’s All-Star netminder will be able to retake the ice. Poile said the current plan is for Rinne to continue rehab until the current target date of December 20th. At that point, the Finnish goalie will hopefully be able to resume more “regular” activities, including practicing normally–and eventually–returning to game action sometime after that.

For a team that relies as heavily on their defense and specifically their netminder, this has to be regarded as pretty good news for the Predators and their fans.

More updates to come during the game tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes.
