Sometimes it takes a game that throws all the stats and reason out the window in order to end a losing streak.
That’s just what happened in tonight’s tilt between the Kings and Predators as Nashville ended its five-game losing streak.
After taking a 2-1 lead with under four minutes left in the game, the Preds seemed poised to ice out the remaining time, but instead, the Kings connected for a goal (in the final minute of regulation) with their netminder pulled to even the contest at two.
Just when it seemed Nashville would be heading to overtime after letting the lead slip away, Mike Fisher buried his second goal of the game (and second in four minutes) just 10 seconds after the game was tied and with only 27 ticks left in regulation.
For a squad that has been on a roller coaster of winning and losing streaks, the final minute alone contained the full gamut of emotions as the Preds skated away with the win.
The Predators will play their final game of the calendar year on Monday when the Detroit Red Wings visit town.
