Shea Weber Set to Play Tonight Against Devils

After Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber missed the team’s practice yesterday, a lot of question marks surrounded his availability to play tonight.

The defenseman left in the third period of Nashville’s last game after appearing to tweak something in his back during the follow-through of a slap shot.

When the Predators proclaimed Weber as “day-to-day with an upper-body injury” yesterday, many went on high alert.

But just over an hour ago, Predators fans breathed a collective sigh of relief when Weber took the ice for today’s morning skate in advance of his team’s home game against the New Jersey Devils.

After the morning skate, word came out that Weber should be able to return to the lineup tonight, granted some kind of complication doesn’t emerge:

Not losing their top defensemen for any real stretch of time is certainly great news for Nashville. However, the Predators did not receive good news on forwards Matt Cullen and Viktor Stalberg, who have both missed the last two games with upper-body injuries:

The Predators take on the Devils tonight, New Jersey played last night as well, defeating the Dallas Stars 3-2 in overtime.
