Morning Skate: Preds Shock Lightning

The Predators came back Thursday night after the Olympic break with a home win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Thomas Willis has your recap of the game last night, focusing on how the Olympics benefited defenseman Roman Josi. Here is your morning skate from around the league.

  • The Chicago Blackhawks almost tied the game in its contest with the New York Rangers Thursday with Patrick Kane shooting down low, but a key kick save by goalie Cam Talbot kept the Rangers up by one. Talbot, the former University of Alabama-Huntsville standout, had 31 saves in the game. – ESPN
  • Joe Pavelski recorded a hat trick in San Jose’s 7-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers, but /u/mipeirong on reddit showed how Logan Couture was denied a of his own hat trick by the replay review crew in Toronto. Couture still had two goals in the game and was named the second star. – reddit
  • Wondering who is worth trading and who has lost their trade value? Puck Daddy listed some of the tradable assets around the league, including Nashville Predators center David Legwand and former Preds center Martin Erat. Legwand is on pace to have 56 points, the second highest season he has had, and Erat wants out again. Any names on that list sound good to you?
