A home losing streak of six games was obliterated by a 6-1 Nashville Predators win over the Buffalo Sabres last night.
In a first period that saw the Predators light the lamp four times and rookie forwards Calle Jarnkrok and Colton Sissons score their first NHL goals, defenseman Victor Barltey dropped the gloves for the first time in his career. The Canadian blueliner squared off with Sabres forward Nicolas Deslauriers.
“It started because of our battle more than anything. They’re big; I was trying to clear out the front of the net, a couple of sticks got high and I had to step in and protect Hutton,” Bartley said. “Honestly, since it was my first NHL fight, I wish I remembered it a little bit more.”
The Predators (32-31-11) are back in action tonight when they take on the Dallas Stars (34-27-11) at 7:30 p.m. (CST). Nashville could gain ground on their divisional rival with a win in this “four-point” game.
