The Pittsburgh Penguins and Blue Jackets series resumes tonight and it has been close, too close for Penguins fans. The team that expects Stanley Cup success on a regular basis hasn’t won a Cup since 2009. This has caused some concern for Pittsburgh fans, considering they have the greatest hockey player in the world right now in Sidney Crosby.
If the Penguins cannot get past the Blue Jackets this year, it may spell doom for the Pens skipper. The Penguins may change the direction of their leadership, either in the front office or the coaching staff. This would mean current head coach Dan Bylsma would be looking for another job.
As stated before, Peter Laviolette is the presumed frontrunner. However, if Bylsma is on the market, this will make another Stanley Cup winning coach available for hire and Nashville will at least need to consider him for the job. There’s no rush to hire a coach, and there will be a lot of turnover coming, and if the Predators wait, then they will have more options when the firings hit the fan.
So tell us what you think. Would you rather have Laviolette as the Predators coach or Bylsma if he becomes available this offseason? If you don’t want either, let us know in the comments who you are hoping will come to Nashville.
