Buckle up, hockey fans. Tonight, the first round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs ends with three Game 7’s. The first one will be Philadelphia against New York at 6 p.m. Wayne Simmonds was the hero in last night’s contest and scored a hat trick to force a Game 7 for the Flyers. It will be interesting to see how these teams play in such a quick turnaround.
Next up, Minnesota and Colorado will end their series in Denver. This has been a great series and Minnesota has held its own against the Central Division champion. Each team has swept on their home ice, but in Game 7’s, the home ice doesn’t matter much. The winner will meet the defending Stanley Cup champion, the Chicago Blackhawks.
Finally, the Kings have shown their toughness by fighting back from a 3-0 lead in the series. This is the fourth time in NHL history where a team has blown a 3-0 series lead. Can the Kings finish the comeback in San Jose? I hope so, because it will set up a Kings/Ducks series that could really determine how vicious the L.A. rivalry will be in the future.
