Predlines Headlines: Predators Busy Week Ahead

Beginning next week, the 2014-2015 NHL season is going to start feeling very close.

On Sunday, the Nashville Predators should find out what their regular season schedule looks like. Then on Tuesday, June 24, the NHL Awards in Las Vegas will take place, as Predators captain Shea Weber will try for a third time to bring home the Norris Trophy (best defenseman). The next day, all 30 NHL teams are allowed to begin meeting with unrestricted free agents in an effort to interview and discuss potential deals that can be signed officially on July 1. Finally, the week concludes with the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia where Nashville has a first and second-round pick for the first time in five years (and extra selections in the second and fourth rounds).

And you thought the offseason in June was boring!

With such an important week beginning in less than 48 hours, let’s turn to your Predlines Headlines:

Remind yourself of Kevin Allen’s list of top unrestricted free agents.

This story was actually posted last week, but it’s a clear and concise look at which players will garner the most attention next week. Predators General Manager David Poile says he really wants a top-six forward…Paul Stastny? Matt Moulson

The Predators website has had consistent analysis on the top prospectives who will hear their names called at some point during the draft next week. Here’s the latest on forward Jake Virtanen (WHL).

Virtanen is rumored to go a few picks before Nashville’s first at No. 11, but the club could make a move in order to add a power forward to their system.

Kris Martel at The Predatorial gives his own preview of a potential draft pick of the Predators: Nick Ritchie

Six-foot-three at over 230 pounds? That’s a pretty good start.

Finally, we may already know the opponent and the date of the Predators home opener for the upcoming season. The Ottawa Sun announced the Senators will be in Nashville on October 9, now we just have to wait and see if that’s truly the first regular season game in Music City.

Does that mean Hockey Night in Canada to start the season?! See made you laugh.
