News From Around The NHL:
Selanne still has some left in the tank and a KHL contract looks likely. It’s a shame we won’t see him one more year in the NHL, but he may get a huge pay day this coming season.
“He recently said he is considering the offer,” reported The Sports Xchange. Yeah, I’d consider that, too. A huge contract he couldn’t get in the NHL in his final years? Sounds perfect.
It’s a minor deal, but the Winnipeg Jets sign defensemen Julien Brouillette to a one-year, two-way deal worth $600,000 in the NHL, according to Pro Hockey Talk. The 27-year-old played 10 games for the Capitals a year ago. He most likely will not be in the NHL this year, but it does give Winnipeg some depth in the farm system.
ESPN’s Katie Strang reports that former Canadien Mathieu Darche supports putting the “C” on P.K. Subban’s sweater. It makes all the sense in the world. He is a leader on that team and he is an ambassador for the franchise. The guy can sell jerseys and the captaincy only helps his brand.
