Top 3 Goals: Gabriel Bourque

In today’s installment of “Top 3 Goals” we rank the top three goals of last season from Predators forward Gabriel Bourque.

Bourque lit-the-lamp nine times in the 2013-2014 season and added 17 assists to his name to account for 26 points in 74 games played.

Bourque is a bottom-six player for the Predators, and a good, young, hardworking forward. “Gabby” as everyone calls him, is a hard-hitting and hard-skating forward. No, seriously, Gabby hits hard; just ask Josh Gorges.

I think Bourque was a good fit in Barry Trotz’s system, and I think he will be a great bottom-six player in Peter Laviolette’s system as well. Bourque is only 23-years-old and could be a great line-mate for possibly Calle Jarnkrok and Filip Forsberg.

Here are Gabriel Bourque’s top three goals from a year ago:

Goal #3: Glove save denied, Carey Price.

Analysis: This whole play shows the “grit” we’re so accustomed to see when watching the Predators, and this time the grit shown by Viktor Stalberg and Matt Cullen pays off in a perfectly positioned Gabriel Bourque wrister to fly past Carey Price’s glove.

Goal #2: Gabby Bourque speed then Gabby Bourque wrister from hell

Analysis: Bourque nudges the puck into space then shows off his speed to catch up to the puck and keep distance between himself and the oncoming defensemen. He then throws a nasty wrist-shot to the top-right corner where Corey Crawford has absolutely zero chance at getting a glove on it. Any goal is a good goal when facing the Blackhawks, right?

Goal #1: Bourque with the very nice move in front of the net to beat Mike Smith

Analysis: Mike Smith completely whiffs on the slight-fake Bourque throws at him in front of the net. I would probably bite on a fake as well with Gabriel Bourque flying full-speed at me, never the less this is a great goal and a great move by Bourque to get Smith to bite and virtually open the entire opposite side of the net.

Side note: Those top three goals for Mr. Bourque were scored on Carey Price, Corey Crawford, and Mike Smith. Nice goals against some very nice goalies by Gabriel Bourque last season.

In case you missed it, we’ve ranked Seth Jones’ top three goals, Rich Clune’s, Ryan Ellis‘, and Viktor Stalberg’s as part of our Top 3 Goals series.

Keep an eye out for our top three goals scored by Predators center Paul Gaustad in tomorrow’s highlight of Top 3 Goals.
