A Pekka Rinne KHL Video For Christmas

All I want for Christmas is Pekka Rinne back on the ice in Nashville. (PHOTO: Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports)

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were two of the only days on the entire 2012-13 NHL schedule that were due to see no action at all. The league traditionally gives its teams and players the Christmas holiday off; all transactions are put on hold so everyone can enjoy good times with friends and family before getting back to work on the 26th. That means that if you wanted to pretend everything’s okay in the NHL, this would be the time…

If you’re not the sort to cover your ears and eyes, you’ll want to watch this Pekka Rinne KHL video. It features lots of stills of your favorite Finnish super-goalie playing for Dinamo Minsk before getting into some actual video coverage of him playing half a world away. There’s a neat moment you’ll notice if you’re paying close attention. When the arena PA announcer in Minsk calls out the star goalie’s name, he only says “Pekkaaaaaaaaaaaaa -” before the crowd finishes with “RINNE!”

Thanks go out to YouTube user Di Kela, the Pekka Rinne KHL fan from Belarus who put the video together. Merry Christmas, everybody!
