The Nashville Predators followers had a party on Twitter during yesterday’s Trade Deadline.

Even though the day was kind of a bust all around and the Predators stood pat, it was still fun. As a matter of fact, Trade Deadline day is kind of like a big party and for many folks, there isn’t much work done as one eye is on the computer watching for trades from your team.  For Southerners, it’s kind of like College Signing day in SEC Football.

By 8:30 there was already a trade and though it wasn’t a big one, it gave promise to a busy Deal Day:

Twitter was all abuzz at this time, with fans and media alike tossing around rumors and hypothetical trades.  It was an exciting time full of promise.  Sort of like a first date before you find out all of their flaws.  There were plenty of jokes too and here is a pretty accurate breakdown:

One of the big questions that Preds fans were asking was whether or not the team would pull the trigger on one of their major players.  A big indicator of who might be traded is if they are at morning practice as management wouldn’t want them to get injured before a trade:

As usual, every little thing was analyzed to death but especially this year as the trades weren’t happening as fast as everyone thought they would:

And there were continued jokes as still nothing happening by lunch time.

Ironically, the Coyotes were in Pittsburgh to play so Sergei Plotnikov just had to walk down the hall and change uniforms after his trade.  Naturally, this brought out stories of similar things happening over the years by the analysts.

As the deadline approached, the analysts about ran out of things to say and were rehashing old war stories.  Everyone was amazed at the lack of trades.  There were still rumors flying around.

And as happens at every Predator game, at least three times:

At the deadline, folks started putting a spin on the day:

There were still rumors that the Predators had done something late.  Was there still hope that something was going to be announced after the deadline that was submitted at the last minute?

Several trades started rolling in including one that sent Lee Stempniak to the Bruins from the Devils.  Stempniak is not surprised by a deadline deal:

There was news about a big trade that the Predators didn’t make:

There was news of a minor deal for the Predators still to be announced but most seemed happy to stand pat.  It is generally believed that the Ryan Johansen deal was their big trade and the hopes that Jimmy Vesey can join the team late in the season will be the equivalent of anyone the Preds could have picked up. All those heavy rumors about Scott Hartnell were just that.
