Another week completed, and more items are checked off the list. And with the season schedule released, Nashville Predators fans can start planning.

The first busy week of the off-season is complete. The Expansion Draft and the NHL Awards. The NHL Entry Draft. All in the rear-view mirror. And, while some of it proved difficult, overall the Nashville Predators managed to take steps forward.

With all the other news and activities, you may have missed the release of the 2017-18 season. To say that the start of the season will be exciting and difficult is slightly laughable. The Predators open the season on the road on October 5 against the Boston Bruins. Two days later, the visit Pittsburgh.

More from Predators News

The Predators make their home debut on October 10, and will raise the Western Conference Champion banner that day, before taking on the Philadelphia Flyers. The Dallas Stars follow a couple of days later. After the two game home stand, the Predators travel to face one of their largest rivals: the Chicago Blackhawk. The two teams face each other twice in October, both times in Chicago.

The Stanley Cup Champions travel to Nashville on November 11, and then the St. Louis Blues come to Bridgestone on November 24. After the first month and a half, things calm down a bit. However, with all eyes on the Predators after their success last year, the pressure will be on to perform at a higher level consistently. The full season schedule can be found on the Predators’ homepage.

Other news

General Manager David Poile is busy working phones and seeing what options exist. The free-agent signing period initiates fully on July 1st, and there are several players on Poile’s list. Most of them are current Nashville Predators, like Viktor Arvidsson. Rumors linked the team with Colorado Avalanche forward Matt Duchene. But paying for the transaction with a defenseman is not one Poile likes. The team is built around P. K. Subban, Roman Josi, Ryan Ellis, and Mattias Ekholm. It is highly unlikely the Predators part with these players.
