Number 1: Pontus Aberg

When drafted in 2012, scouts said that he had a below-average chance of success in the NHL. However, no one told that to Pontus Aberg. The speedy winger passes the puck well and possesses and hard, accurate shot.

While he played in 15 games for the Nashville Predators in 2016-17, ten where in November. There was a lack of consistent use during the season. Until the playoffs when he saw action in 16 games. Of his five points in the playoffs, one goal earned the team a win in Game 5.

With James Neal gone, openings on the front lines need to be filled. It remains to be seen who fills what holes, but Aberg could sneak his way onto the second line. If that happens, and he is paired with Nick Bonino, a breakout season could happen for Aberg.
