Bridgestone Arena opened its doors to Nashville Predators fans to enjoy a day of fun activities and shopping for game-used items.
It is a common event. Most professional sports teams host something similar to an open house each off-season. Still, with the buzz around the Nashville Predators after the success of last season, the open house they hosted at Bridgestone arena was exciting. The opportunity to be in the place that hosted the team’s first Stanley Cup experience is a rare occurrence.
The air in the arena was chilled, but the smiles and laughter warmed the spirits of those present. With games and browsing through game-used items, there was plenty to experience. And, with school starting tomorrow for my daughters, it was a great way to end the summer.
The floor of the arena allowed space for street hockey, inflatable games, and the line for shopping. My girls enjoyed the maze, racing each other to see who could get out without being knocked over by the rotating arms. Then, I sat back and watched as kids made (mostly feeble) attempts at jumping-over or ducking-under a padded mechanical arm. Another place for racing. And another for just jumping. Kids were provided plenty to do for the afternoon.
So were the adults. The line for purchasing game attire was almost obscene when we arrived. Traveling from the arena floor and up through the Lexus Lounge, the line extended to the main concourse. But, as you walked around, fans seemed thrilled with their spoils. Of course, who does not want to go home with P.K. Subban‘s stick, Juuse Saros‘s pads, or the other wears available.
And, of course, Gnash showed up! Sporting the new Adidas away jersey the Predators will don this season, Gnash took time to meet fans and take photos. The jersey itself is a change to a more gold-based style, compared to the balanced gold-and-blue previously worn.
All in all, the event was just another way Nashville Predators fan can experience their atmosphere and spirit of their team. And it is just another indicator that Nashville loves its team.
