Roman Polak would be a decent stop-gap for the Predators

Roman Polak is the guy you go to in a pinch, much like Taco Bell at two AM. No judgment, we’ve all been there. And while Polak may not be as tasty or reliable as Taco Bell, he can play decent at times. Polak is a warm body who has consistently posted negative Fenwick scores and few points to match. He scored 11 points last season and put up a lot of hits. There are defenders who put up a lot of hits and post good possession scores. But Polak is not that guy. Polak hits a lot because his team rarely has the puck and it’s the only thing he can do.

A quick look at Polak’s hero chart doesn’t help his case. He scores and assists at an average rate, while his shot generation and suppression are way below average. He hits, blocks shots, and kills penalties, but doesn’t do much else. He’s a stop-gap at best but he could be better than Anthony Bitetto. He’d most likely demand 1.5 million for a year or two.
