Mikael Granlund: Soaring

As great and reliable as Mikael Granlund has been this season I’d steer clear of buying any stock of his right now. I think it’s as high as it’s going to get, and wouldn’t be surprised at all if he enters a scoreless stretch sometime soon.

Granlund has really been showcasing his passing abilities and knack for generating strong possession for his linemates. He’s leading the team in assists with 16, and just one point behind Duchene for the team lead in points with 21.

How thankful do the Predators need to be for somewhat managing to re-sign Granlund over the offseason at the very last minute? Extremely grateful as he’s been a main factor to why the Predators have managed to stick around near the top of the Central Division, and not be hanging down at the bottom with Arizona and Chicago.

Granlund should easily end up setting a new season high in a Predators uniform for points, which he posted 30 points in 2019-20. That’s not nearly the point efficiency you want to see, but he’s at exactly a point-per-game pace this season. Expect a cool off period at some point.
