3. Juuse Saros

The more and more that the days go by, Saros is establishing himself as not just a good or great goaltender, but an elite one. It has been yet another Vezina-caliber season for him, as he currently has a 2.24 GAA and .925 save percentage.

In Saros’ last six games, his stats have been even more mimd-blowing: 1.49 GAA, .947 save percentage, and his only two shutouts of the year, including one on Sunday night on the road against the New York Rangers in hallowed Madison Square Garden:

In case anyone had some doubt about Saros being able to maintain his high-level performance from last year, he has answered that question and then some. He has been worth every penny of the contract he signed this past offseason, and if he continues to get better throughout the season as he has done in the past few years, who knows what we might be saying about him at season’s end

The one biggest difference with Saros from last year, at least lately, is that the team is not relying on him to bail them out night in and night out. By virtue of scoring goals and keeping the opposition from getting shots, the Predators are doing a much better job at being balanced.

That being said, Saros’ stats and performances have been absolutely insane, and no matter how much the Predators appear to need him due to their play on the ice, he has shown that he is the backbone of this team.
