Nino Niederreiter, Carolina Hurricanes

Previous Cap Hit: $5.25M

Another Hurricanes player hits the list of desirable free agent targets for the Predators. Niederreiter more so than any other free agent winger brings exactly what the Predators are looking for to add to their top-six, and he’s reasonably affordable.

Niederreiter has been a critical goal scorer for the Hurricanes putting up 44 goals over his last two seasons, with the 56-game shortened regular season putting up a respectable 20 goals.

What makes Niederreiter even more desirable for the Predators is he can contribute on the second power play unit as well. He plays a sharp defensive game as well, but isn’t a liability that constantly goes to the penalty box. All positive check marks for the Predators to look at.

I’m sure the Hurricanes don’t want to lose Niederreiter, but it’s also a case of them not being able to keep everyone. I’ve already mentioned Max Domi, and Vincent Trocheck is another pending free agent from the Hurricanes.

I give the Nashville Predators a strong chance to be interested in obtaining Niederreiter on Wednesday with the remaining cap space they have.
