Nashville Predators: Eeli Tolvanen placed on waivers, McCarron to NHLPA Assitance Program
Following the Nashville Predators‘ 3-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators forward Michael McCarron was placed in the NHLPA Player Assitance Program.
McCarron has two points in 15 games this season while playing mainly on the bottom forward line.
The fluctuating roster moves don’t stop there for the Predators, who have a back-to-back slate beginning in St. Louis on Monday and then ending here in Nashville on Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers.
Eeli Tolvanen was placed on waivers Sunday by the Predators. After being a healthy scratch for the 12th time this season and scoring 4 points in 13 games played Tolvanen is available to be picked up by any other NHL organization.
Overall in 135 games, the 2017 1st round pick has garnered 51 points with the Nashville Predators.
Tolvanen signed a three-year contract with Nashville over the 2021 offseason worth $4.3 million. He’s eligible to be an RFA after the 2023-24 season.
Now for the first time in his NHL career, the Finnish player could dawn a new uniform once Monday afternoon comes around.
Not only do the Predators have questions with their personnel on offense, but on defense as well after playing with four defensemen for the third period against Ottawa.
Jeremy Lauzon and Alexandre Carrier both exited Saturday’s matinee matchup in the second period against Ottawa.
Captain Roman Josi played 31:01, Mattias Ekholm 24:41 Jordan Gross 22:24, and Dante Fabbro 21:08.
Lauzon was holding his right wrist after absorbing a hit from Mark Kastellic with 20 seconds left in the second period.
John Hynes has no update for either Carrier or Lauzon in his postgame press conference.
That now marks four Predators defensemen being out of the lineup. Ryan McDonagh was placed on IR earlier in the week and Mark Borowiecki has been on IR for 18 games.
The Predators will have a tough test this week being three points out of a playoff spot going up against the Blues, Oilers, Jets, and Avalanche.
One of the Predators defensemen could surely land on the long-term injured reserve to clear up some cap space for Nashville.
Roland McKeown and Kevin Gravel are likely the defensive players recalled while Philip Tomasino could make his season debut this week as well.
