Takeaway 3: Goaltending, Defense Played Strong All Throughout

Finishing 5-0 in any match shows that in that moment, you were better than your opponent. Nashville switched out their goalie tandem halfway through the game to give both of their guys some ice time. Annunen had just under 30 minutes of ice time, saving all seven shots. The defense played a major role as they redirected plays away from the crease.

Murray took the stage halfway through the second period and he didn't look back. He blocked all 12 of the shots he faced. Murray is a face we may see more often is Annunen doesn't perform well this year. He signed a two-year extension with Nashville in April last season after a stelar performance in Milwaukee. The 27-year-old netminder posted a 28-10-5 record with an impressive .932 SV% and 2.07 GAA. If backup goaltending takes another hit this year, Murray is the guy Nashville will depend upon to get it done.
