It's that time of year again, a favorite for some and a disaster for others. The 2026 NHL Trade Deadline is right around the corner and teams are beginning to lay out their cards and getting ready to snag others.
The Nashville Predators are an interesting team to focus on this deadline. The team is in an awkward position, not being too bad to tank but also not being too good to compete. Moves made at this deadline by GM Barry Trotz can dictate what path this squad could follow in the future.
Teams have made their calls to acquire Nashville talent, but so far nothing has fallen through. Trades are destined to happen in the coming days in Smashville. With that being said, here's the top five most tradeable assets the Predators hold heading into the deadline.
Marchessault's time with the Predators is nearing an end
Like it or not, you have to admit that the 2024 Free Agency experiment wasn't exactly what Nashville needed. It dug the team in a deeper hole than it was in prior, setting massive roadblocks in the way for the team's development.
Jonathan Marchessault was one of three big names reeled into the Nashville scene that offseason. Since his acquisition, Marchessault has recorded 73 points in 116 games, consisting of 31 goals and 42 assists. For someone who scored 42 goals the year prior with Vegas, it's a surprise that he's only been able to pot less in the following two seasons.
He's reportedly open to a trade out of the music city, pushing Trotz to make a decision soon. If Nashville wants to capitalize on his most recent hot streak, the time is now. Montreal looks to be the top target for Marchessault; they have the assets to make it happen. Beyond the centralized target, management could easily get a high value second rounder or a late first rounder for the winger. Tag along a B+ prospect and we got something.
