Jonathan Marchessault
Marchessault looks like the favorite to be the other winger opposite Forsberg on Nashville's top line. A pretty easy choice, and also an easy top candidate to pick for "Robin". Marchessault will hit age 35 in late December.
The chemistry wasn't there from the start last season, but as the season slipped away you did see Marchessault and Forsberg begin to get more comfortable with each other. It was expected that there would be a period of growth, but no one every thought it would take so long into the season.
Now the hope is that Year 2 for Marchessault in Nashville will be much more seamless and we'll see more of the Marchessault will previously saw with the Vegas Golden Knights.
It was illustrated quite clearly that Marchessault was disgusted by his play and his team's play. Nothing went according to plan after so much preseason hype. I can see a scenario play out this season where Marchessault presses Forsberg for the team lead in points. Especially if they feed off each other in a much better way than their first year together.
It would be great for this franchise, and for Head Coach Andrew Brunette's job security, if Forsberg and Marchessault can build something similar to what Forsberg and Duchene captured in 2021-22. A situation where both players trade goals and assists with each other.
