Steven Stamkos
Stamkos was the ultimate superhero during his prime years with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and he'll always be their superhero long after he retires. But what if before he hangs up the skates to his Hall of Fame career, he takes on a sidekick role for the Nashville Predators for a couple years?
It's really unclear just where Stamkos is going to land in the top-six. Will he play on the wing or will he have to take center role because the Predators are so thin and desperate at this position? That remains to be seen until we get through training camp and see a couple preseason games.
It would be really cool if Stamkos can turn back the hands of time for at least one year in Nashville and put up All-Star like numbers on Nashville's second line. That is my best-case scenario for Stamkos this season. Playing on the second line and being a great mentor to Fedor Svechkov and possibly Luke Evangelista if that pesky new contract will get signed.
There is also a chance that Nashville opts for Stamkos on the top line at center to play with Forsberg. That would be a wrinkle in things that's not really expected, but could happen if coaches see that fit in training camp.
Again, I'll circle back to Nashville's power play. Stamkos is obviously one of the best in NHL history on the power play, and he still has that weapon of shot. Forsberg and Stamkos could build quite the duo in Year 2 of playing together on the power play. Stamkos and Forsberg feed off each other and stack up their power play points. Not all that far fetched in my eyes.
