The Nashville Predators toppled their second straight wild card opponent, beating the San Jose Sharks 6-3 at the SAP Center Saturday, April 5.

Filip Forsberg and Tyson Jost tallied three points in the win and Juuse Saros saved 24 of 27 shots against. It's Nashville's [36-31-9] 15th-straight win against the Sharks [36-32-7], dating back to December 2019. It is also its second straight 6-3 win against the club this season. The team slid back into the second wild card spot in the West.

"[What impressed me was] the resiliency that we've showed," Forsberg said. "We prefer not to give up a three-goal lead and have to fight back to win. But when we have, we've been able to do that a few times and shows a lot of strength in the group."

Jonathan Marchessault dished one over to Forsberg on the power play who promptly netted the team's first of the night at 11:22. He scored again a minute later after rebounding on Matthew Wood's shot in front of the net. Forsberg later fed Steven Stamkos a cross-ice pass, allowing him to one-time it past former Preds goalie Yaroslav Askarov to put the Preds up 3-0.

The Sharks scored their first 15:49 in the middle frame thanks to Nick Leddy's first of the season. Macklin Celebrini brought it within two in the final minute of the period.

San Jose tied it 1:06 in the third but Nashville halted the comeback, scoring three unanswered. First, it was Ryan O'Reilly with the game-winner. Erik Haula got ahold of the puck off the boards and scored shorthanded, his first snipe since March 17 against Winnipeg. Jost rounded it out with an empty netter and his third point of the night.

"Proud of this group," Preds Head Coach Andrew Brunette said. "3-3 going into the third period, go through some adversity and we hung in together like we did all year. There's a lot of belief right now."

Nashville plays against LA Monday for its second matchup in the past week. It will have a chance to widen the wild card gap further with a win.

"We get to into another building and play a team they just played two nights ago," Brunette said. "It's the best time of year to be playing and we're excited for that challenge."
