Roman Josi
I'm not as dug in on Josi as an untouchable as I am with Forsberg, mainly due to age and injury concerns. Josi has been out since October 23 with an upper body injury that is not related to his POTS diagnosis from the offseason. An important distinction, and instead this is just a wear and tear injury that's normal.
This is a wait-and-see approach for me, and I was even very unsure about Josi's durability going into the season. He had five points in the first eight games before going down with this injury, so he wasn't invisible out there.
Josi would absolutely fetch a great return for Nashville if this somehow happened before the 2026 trade deadline, but I'm not sure it would be great enough for me to justify trading away your captain and one of your best players in franchise history. You would have to include multiple first round picks and a quality offensive player heading into their prime to boost the rebuild. And I just don't see anyone offering Nashville that much to get Josi. So in that case, I'd rather keep Josi for now.
Again the No Movement Clause comes into play as well, so you would need Josi's approval to be traded. Trading Josi might have a slightly higher likelihood that Forsberg, but still extremely low.
Josi has just two more yeras remaining after this one on his $9,059,00 AVV. The final year of the deal has the NMC dropping off, so a more likely time to unloaded Josi and grant his opportunity to go somewhere competitive to win a Stanley Cup would be in 2028.
If you're thinkin about the highest trade value to get out of Josi, then of course now would be the best time. But similar to Forsberg, do we really want to break up this way with a franchise all-time great? I haven't reached that breaking point yet.
You can say that my asking price is way too high to trade Josi, which is why I basically consider him as an untouchable.
