Midseason Trades

Philip Tomasino in Exchange for 2027 4th
In the same case as Glass, Tomasino had a lot of potential prior to getting traded. Up until this point, the 23-year-old recorded 70 points—23 goals and 47 assists—in 148 games with Nashville. He was on pace to breaking his rookie season points recorded the year before. After only notching a lone assist in 11 games, Trotz moved Tomasino to the Penguins for a 2027 4th.
Out of all the trades Trotz made this season, this one hurt the most. Not only do we get little in return for lost potential, but we also saw the resurgence of his career. With Pittsburgh, Tomasino put up 23 points in 50 games while only playing 13 minutes a night. Given that he was typically paired with other rookies, he still succeeded even when nobody experienced was around. Instead of watching him grow in our yellow jersey, we have to watch him grow while we wait to use our returned asset.
Future Considerations in Exchange for Ryder Rolston
This is one of those AHL trades that typically go under the radar. In the case of this trade, it has the potential to shine bright in the future. Nashville basically acquired a future bottom-six forward from Chicago in exchange for nothing. Most of the time teams don't get much when they receive future considerations and the same can be said for this. In a worst-case scenario, Rolston doesn't develop and remains a solid AHL forward. Realistically, the Blackhawks may ask for a late round pick which isn't much.
Scott Wedgewood in Exchange for Justus Annunen & 2025 6th
With Nashville, Scott Wedgewood posted a 0.878 SV% with a 3.69 GAA. Even though the defense wasn't a strong suit of the team, Trotz had other plans with Wedgewood. He shipped him off to Colorado in exchange for young Finnish netminder Justus Annunen and a 2025 6th rounder. Since joining Nashville, Annunen recorded a 0.888 SV% and 3.17 GAA—just slightly better than Wedgewood. The addition of Annunen gives Juuse Saros another Finland native to play with since the dismissal of Kevin Lankinen. Annunen is also contracted under a sub-900k AAV deal which is a plus.
Alexandre Carrier in Exchange for Justin Barron
Alexandre Carrier signed a big three-year, $11.25 million deal before the season began. After getting paid just under $4 million per year, Carrier didn't meet expectations and only recorded seven points in 28 games. As a result, Nashville traded the Quebec native to Montreal for Justin Barron. Barron, 23, is a bigger, younger version of Carrier for half the price. In 45 games with Nashville, he put up 12 points including five goals—as a d-man. In the end, the trade was a win-win for both sides since Carrier prospered in Montreal.
Juuso Parssinen & 2026 7th in Exchange for Ondrej Pavel & 2027 3rd
Yet another trade which sees a young piece get shipped off. Juusp Parssinen, 24, only played 15 games with Nashville, recording five points in the process. He was traded to Colorado and later to the Rangers. Since then, he's posted 11 points in 32 games, earning him a contract extension worth $1.25 million AAV. This trade doesn't sting as much as the Tomasino or Glass trade since his role is limited to the bottom-six.
For Nashville, we received Ondrej Pavel who has shown small glimpses of talent with the Admirals since his arrival. DobberProspects projects the 24-year-old to be a bottom-six forward at the rate he's going. His stock is raising so we could very well see him take a higher role in the future. The 3rd round pick will come in handy later additionally.
Future Considerations in Exchange for Mark Friedman & Grigori Denisenko
These next two trades will be combined into one since they are the same thing just different teams. The Canucks traded defenseman Mark Friedman to Nashville in early February. Since being sent down to the Admirals, he's been a prominent figure on defense and a dark horse for a starter spot next season in Nashville. Forward Denisenko—from Vegas—has recorded 12 points in 21 games with Milwaukee since the trade and is looking to get more ice time next season.
Anthony Angello in Exchange for Jesse Ylonen
This was the final AHL swap we saw this season. The trade sent Anthony Angello to Tampa Bay and sent to Jesse Ylonen to Nashville. Angello was seen as a leader in Milwaukee, so his absence was a big one. Since arriving in Wisconsin, Ylonen only recorded 8 points in 17 games. There isn't much to be said about this trade other than Milwaukee will miss Angelo's appearance on the ice.
