The Nashville Predators [22-20-4] had a rematch against the Edmonton Oilers [23-16-8] at Bridgestone Arena this Tuesday, winning 4-3 in overtime. It is the second of three times the teams will meet this season.

Roman Josi scored two goals including the game winning tally, Steven Stamkos recorded his 20th goal of the season, and Juuse Saros stopped 28/31 shots faced.

"It feels good. It was an exciting game. Edmonton's a great team and the way it ended, it was pretty fun. The crowd was into it. It was a good atmosphere."

Michael McCarron dropped the gloves with Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse on the opening faceoff. The 6'6" centerman took care of business and dropped Nurse to the ice, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Nashville got on the board first with an early snipe from Stamkos at 17:15, receiving the puck from a drop-back pass from Michael Bunting. With his 20th on the season, Stamkos now sits 21st all-time in the scoring department with 602 career tallies, per NHL PR.

The Oilers turned up their offense, having nine shots on goal in the following 15 minutes. A tripping call on Predators' defenseman Justin Barron gave Edmonton a prime opportunity to tie the game. It took Zach Hyman 16 seconds on the man-advantage to find the back of the net for his 15th of the year, tying the game at one heading into first intermission.

The Predators found themselves in the driver's seat once again to start the period as Erik Haula wristed one past goalie Tristan Jarry, making it 2-1 three minutes in. Matthew Wood snapped a 13-game pointless streak after getting a primary assist on play.

Edmonton responded four minutes later with a goal from Leon Draisaitl, tying the game at two apiece

The Predators would take another penalty five minutes later, and the Oilers would score a minute into the 5 on 4 as Hyman broke the deadlock. Draisaitl would get his third point of the night with a primary assist.

Now a goal behind, Nashville capitalized on a giveaway from Isaac Howard, leading to Nick Blankenburg dishing the puck over to Josi who slap shotted it from just beyond the faceoff dot to even the difference 3-3.

The third period saw both sides pushing for the tiebreaker, but neither side was able to pot their fourth, prompting overtime.

With 1:17 left in overtime, Jarry left his crease to try and poke check the puck, giving Josi just enough time to score on an empty net to win it for Nashville.

"[Josi's] got to keep shooting the puck, it's just nice to see him out there healthy having fun, being himself, and helping our team win games. Obviously, our captain and vital part of our organization, it's great."

With last night's win, the Predators are two points out of the second wildcard in the Western Conference and two away from the first.

"The Preds don't miss playoffs too often and there's some character in this room and there's some long standing of making the playoffs dating back to the Poile years. That's a standard around here and we fully expect to make the playoffs and make a great push."

Nashville now heads on the road for a Friday matchup against the league-leading Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena.
