Steven Stamkos reached the 1200-point plateau this Tuesday in a 5-1 win against the Calgary Flames after scoring the team's second of the night. He is now the sixth active player to reach the milestone alongside the likes of Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, and Patrick Kane. The 35-year-old has three goals and two assists in his last five games.
Reid Schaefer and Ozzy Wiesblatt both found the back of the net for the first times in their young NHL career; Juuse Saros saved 27 of 28 shots faced; Michael Bunting pocketed a goal and an assist.
Here's What Happened Tuesday Night Against Calgary
Nashville (9-13-4) and Calgary exchanged a handful of shots to open the first period. It was Schaefer that broke the score with a wrister in front of the net to give Nashville an early 1-0 lead. Tuesday was his third NHL game, and he made the most of every chance he got. It only took him six shot attempts to net his first.
"Yeah, it's pretty special, honestly. Having family in the building, it just makes it more, more special. Yeah, it was it was lots of fun. Honestly, I kind of blacked out. I mean, it went in the net, I was like, "Oh, what do I do here?" Pretty cool moment."Reid Schaefer in post-game Interview
The remainder of the first period was nothing more than back and forth shot attempts with both squads coming within one by the end of it. Saros made an excellent stop by diving to block Jonathan Huberdeau's backhand attempt late in the period.
As the second began, momentum began to shift in Calgary's favor, but that didn't stop Nashville from pocketing their second of the night. Ryan O'Reilly dished the puck over to Luke Evangelista who wrapped around the net to put it in the hands of Stamkos who snuck it past Flames goalie Devin Cooley five minutes into the period.
It was a play built on patience. Evangelista could've fired the puck himself but instead circled behind the net and set up a clean look for Stamkos. It clearly paid off as Nashville had a wide-open net and Stamkos was in the right place to take advantage.

Roughly 10 minutes after Stamkos scored, Jonathan Marchessault entered the scoresheet in his first game back after being injured a few games prior. He snapped one just outside the blueline after a solid screening attempt from Filip Forsberg in front of the crease.
The team didn't slow down as Wiesblatt managed to put one past Cooley to snag his first career goal. The rookie forward had previously only recorded three assists in 23 games played so far this year. His goal was an emotional one for not only himself but for the Preds community as he pointed his finger to the sky, dedicating the goal for his late brother Orca Wiesblatt who sadly passed away prior to the season's beginning.
"It's just relief for me and obviously, you know, I've thought about pointing to the sky for my brother for a while now, and just cool feeling and obviously that one's for him"Ozzy Wiesblatt in post-game interview
Right after bringing the lead to a 3-0 chokehold, Schaefer decided to apply some more pressure by laying the boom on defenseman Brayden Pachal. This ultimately resulted in a scrap between the two and Schaefer was able to land a few punches on his opponent before the referees stepped in and gave them both a five-minute penalty for fighting.
Much like the first period, the second closed out with each team taking turns with the puck to no avail. In the third, Bunting scored his second straight point of the game as he executed a backhand to hand Nashville a commanding 5-0 lead.
Much like his former Milwaukee Admiral teammate Schaefer, Wiesblatt felt like he needed to make more of an impression by dropping his gloves in response to a hit Blake Coleman made on him just a few moments prior.
Morgan Frost prevented the Flames from getting shutout in back-to-back games when he scored on the power play. Neither the Flames nor the Preds could find the back of the net for the rest of the period and Nashville stole the game 5-1, opening December off with a tally in the win column.
Nashville will travel to Sunrise on Thursday to matchup against the defending Stanley Cup winning Florida Panthers.
