Colton Sissons

Sissons is a long time stalwart for the Predators and over the years, someone who has become a fan favorite. Several bottom six players on the team have taken heat as fans have been restless waiting for younger prospects to take those spots, but Sissons has near completely escaped such vitriol.

He is a "do a little bit of everything" kind of guy, as he is known largely for being a two-way player, does lots of dirty work, and makes very few mistakes. He has been worth every penny of a seven-year contract he signed in the 2019 offseason, and one that expires after the 2025-26 season ends.

With that, Trotz and the Predators have to start thinking about what they can do to ensure they do not lose him for nothing, and it is hard not to say that trading him now is the most sensible option. Once again, they would be smartest to make moves with the long haul in mind, and at this point in his career, Sissons is certainly not a long-haul kind of player.

He is 31 years old and someone ready to help a contender win a Stanley Cup now, something he has not done himself and surely would love an opportunity to do. And judging by what those teams have shown to be willing to pay for quality depth guys, there definitely would be a market for Sissons.

Of course, even if the Predators decide to really get younger and plan for the future, Sissons could help from a leadership standpoint, but they already have plenty of guys who can. Moving on from him would be a tough, but likely smart decision, so prepare yourself to see it happen.
