Roman Josi- 946 Games, 713 Points, 189 Goals, 524 Assists, +63 Plus/Minus
Let's first start with the Captain. Josi might be slowly starting to regress a bit. Father Time is of course undefeated, although some truly elite players hold off the regression longer than others.
Josi is 34-years-old but still considered one of the top-five NHL defensemen in terms of generating offense. This season has been an offensive struggle for the entire Predators roster, but Josi still has 27 points in 37 games. His plus/minus has taken a hard hit as he sits at a minus-22.
Josi's next individual milestone to watch as the 2024-25 season moves past the midway point is where he ranks among defensemen in points all-time.
Among NHL defensemen in NHL history, Josi currently sits 29th in points. He needs just 11 more points to pass the next player on the list, and that's Dave Babych. Babych was the 2nd overall pick in the 1980 draft by the Winnipeg Jets and last played in the NHL in 1998-99.
If Josi can at least match his point production from the first half of this season to the second half, then he can pass another player on the all-time points list among defensemen, and that next player would be Scott Niedermayer at 740 points. That's 27 points needed from Josi to tie for 27th.
It looks almost certain that eventually Josi will move into the top-20 among defensemen in points. But for this season, he might only move up two spots. Maybe three.
Another franchise milestone for Josi that he'll definitely take and do so in the next month. That milestone is the most game played in Predators history. David Legwand holds the record with 956 games played, and Josi will take the record with 957 games against the Ottawa Senators on February, as long as Josi doesn't miss any games before then.
