Where Are They Now: Nashville Predators' Notable Players from 2017 Stanley Cup Final

It's been 8 years since Nashville went on a Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup Finals as a wildcard team. Without everyone stepping up when it meant the most, the Preds couldn't have made it past the first round.

We are less than 100 days away from the 2025-26 NHL season, one that marks a shift for the Nashville Predators future one way or another. After staying on the low this free agency, Nashville is hoping to potentially strike back. With free agency still ongoing and being a month out of the finals, I thought it'll be the perfect time to take a trip down memory lane and look back at Nashville's finals run in 2017.

The Preds have seen a large change of faces since then. Since Colton Sissons' departure from the Predators organization, there are now only three players left from that roster. With that being said, let's forget about the present and take a moment to remember Nashville's former greats.

Filip Forsberg: Nashville Predators

Forsberg is the only remaining forward from the 2017 roster. In Nashville's 22 playoff games, Forsberg socred 9 goals and registered 7 assists. Safe to say that Forsberg is still, and even a bit more clutch than he was in Smashville's glory days. He was averaging nearly 20 minutes a night and recording a +14 +/-, an impressive feat by any player. Since 2017, he's become the franchise leader in goals and second leader in points, right behind the next on our list.

Roman Josi: Nashville Predators

When Shea Weber was traded to the Montreal Canadiens the season prior, Josi was given a lot more responsibility as the team's number one defenseman. In the postseason, Josi didn't just live up to them, he exceeded them. Averaging 26 minutes a game, Josi was one of Nashville's top scorers and top defenders. He put up 14 points, 6 of which were goals. He's had a 96-point season and a Norris Trophy title since then. In the present day, Josi is Nashville's greatest point scorer and defender in their history.

Juuse Saros: Nashville Predators

While he didn't necessarily play as an important role as Forsberg and Josi then, he was still there to support his squad. Saros was in the crease whenever Pekka Rinne was pulled. The 21-year-old was still rookie was looking for ways to prove himself whenever he could. Despite putting up a .824 SV%, Saros still did his part. When Rinne hung the skates up, Saros' role as the team's top goalie boosted his confidence and he is now the squad's core piece at the back end.
