Right before this season started, the Nashville Predators gave famous rapper Drake a personalized jersey, as well as took a picture with him, which may be a bad omen for them.

The ‘Drake Curse’ has been some sort of plague going around in the sports world, as every team whose jersey the Canadian rapper wears always winds up failing, and now this may take a toll on the Nashville Predators.

With the Toronto Maple Leafs taking a loss in Game Four of their first round series against the Bruins, while Drake was in attendance donning a Leafs sweater, this might become a concern for the Nashville Predators fan base.

I found some truth to this as well, as there are also pictures of Drake wearing a Tampa Bay Lightning jersey, who got swept by the Columbus Blue Jackets in one of the most lopsided upsets in NHL History.

Granted, the picture was from 2016, but what have the Bolts done since then? They wound up

missing the playoffs in 2016-17, finishing one point behind the Toronto Maple Leafs, who held the last wild card spot in the East.

Also in 2016, Drake was gifted a signed Mario Lemieux jersey by his daughter, which didn’t have an immediate effect on the Penguins, as they were back to back Stanley Cup Champions in 2016 and 2017, but in the two years after that, they suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of the Washington Capitals in the second round, and a clean sweep by the heavily unfavored New York Islanders in the first round.

The Penguins fall from greatness after their back to back cups has really shown, and maybe that has something to do with this alleged curse, and it has shown in other sports as well.

Other instances of this curse in action include Drake wearing an Alabama sweatshirt and posting it on his instagram story, which was shortly followed with a Bama loss to Clemson in the National Championship game and Drake being at Conor McGregor’s side during a lopsided loss to Khabib in a UFC match.

There are a variety of other instances where Drake has cursed sports franchises, including his native Toronto teams that fail to make a mark in the playoffs year after year, so the question is: should Nashville Predators fans be worried?

I think that it could possibly be a problem, and we saw a sign of this last night during the Nashville Predators 5-1 loss in game four last night.

Granted, a first round collapse by the Preds would be at the fault of many factors other than the rapper, but it’s still a thought.

The Predators have been weak offensively and Pekka Rinne had a less than stellar game, liekly being tired after having to stop 40 shots in game three, but as we’ve seen before, teams have a way of losing when Drake comes around.

When P.K. Subban invited Drake to take that picture, he didn’t know about how bad of an omen it was, but let’s see if the Nashville Predators are going to be the team that breaks the Drake Curse.
