Everyone in the sports world is having to get creative with the NHL season on hiatus due to COVID-19, and we’re looking for that sports fix somehow.

Feeling bored and wishing we had live Nashville Predators games to discuss right now? Yeah, I’m right there with you, but we’re seeing other ways to stay connected with our favorite teams, like video games simulations from EA Sports’ NHL20.

This is a really cool thing NHL20  is doing by simulating games that would be going on if the NHL regular season was still going on. I’m definitely intrigued to see who ends up hoisting the Stanley Cup at the end, even if it is all just a video game.

So if you’re a fan of the Nashville Predators, or any other team, I encourage you to follow NHL20 on social media as they update each day with results from their simulations.

The latest update had the Predators beating the Avalanche 4-0, which is a result we can all get on board with:

They’re also sharing a “Player of the Night” on each night they post all of the scores.

NHL teams are also starting to get on board with this fun and unique idea to keep fans entertained and feel like they have something that can connect them to NHL hockey.

Teams such as the Capitals, Hurricanes and Devils have already started live streaming these simulated games for fans to tune into. They’re also live tweeting them.

P.K. Subban, who is a big social media figure, endorsed this yesterday and said he’s going to tune in:

This is going to be fun to keep track of as more players join in and give fans an escape from all of the madness of the current reality the world finds itself in.

I’m hoping the Predators start getting involved in this as it would be entertaining to follow and see how the season ends up through these simulations. And there are so many gamers out there who will have lots more time to fine-tune their NHL20 skills.

Anything teams and their players can do to stay connected with fans through these difficult times will be a huge positive and be very beneficial, and this is a great way to do that.

It’s worth noting that just like in real life, the Predators are in a wildcard spot in the current season simulation. The Canucks have the top wildcard spot, and the Jets are right behind the Predators.

The player ratings on NHL20 always spark plenty of debate among hockey gamers as well, and naturally Connor McDavid has the highest rating on the game with a 94 overall.

Pekka Rinne and Roman Josi have the highest player ratings on the Predators with an 88 overall. Matt Duchene is rated at an 87, while Filip Forsberg is just at an 85.

I know it’s not real hockey, but I’m still going to follow along and see how it all unfolds. Who knows, maybe the Predators will win a virtual Stanley Cup and then all of those tired banner jokes can come at us in full force again.
