Times are pretty good for the Nashville Predators over the past two months, as they are one of the winningest teams in the league since November 26, 2025. They are just a few days removed from being the first team to beat the Colorado Avalanche on their home ice in regulation this season, and if they did not have people's attention before then, they have it now.
It certainly feels as if something is here with the Predators, but the reality is they are unlikely to be anything better than a Wildcard team if they make the playoffs. They are currently sitting at 50 points in the standings, which is three points out of the last Wildcard spot, and 15 points out of third place in the Central Division.
When you also consider that the break for the Winter Olympics is coming up, that means there are even fewer games to be played between now and the March 6, 2026 trade deadline.
As such, that means there is even less time to make up ground and get even close to claiming a top-3 spot in the division, especially since all of the recent winning has gotten them no further than Wildcard status.
As it stands now, the Predators will likely not be a major seller at the trade deadline, but do enough to where they sell off the pieces they absolutely need to before the offseason hits. With that, it should present an opportunity for three of their prospects to enter the lineup, as well as for the team to evaluate what they have in their young guys.
