As the Summer months roll on and the NHL season draws to a close, we anxiously await any roster news from the Nashville Predators. With so much for GM David Poile to do roster-wise, the news should start coming at any time now.

One big piece of news we are waiting on is whether or not Pekka Rinne will retire. According to his end-of-season interview, Rinne said he would be meeting with Poile to discuss his future very soon. Hopefully, Rinne has one more year left in him.

We are also counting down the days until the NHL Expansion Draft, which takes place on July 21. While there has been much speculation about which players Poile will protect, we won’t know anything until the day of the draft.

Who the Seattle Kraken chooses will obviously impact the roster for next season. We know some players such as Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg, and Juuse Saros will be on Poile’s protection list, but other names are up in the air.

After the expansion draft comes the NHL Entry Draft on July 23 and 24. The Predators have the 18th pick and are in desperate need of scoring forwards. I believe they will use their pick to draft the best player available at the forward position.

I expect to start seeing lots of news from the Predators organization really soon, possibly beginning in early July. Next season will be a pivotal one for the Predators. Here’s hoping the moves that they make this Summer will help the team move forward so that they can start making deeper playoff runs in the very near future.

Congratulations To The (Former) Captain

With their 3-2 win last night against the Vegas Golden Knights, the Montreal Canadiens punched their ticket to their first Stanley Cup Final appearance since 1993.

It would be great to see former Predators (and current Canadiens) Captain Shea Weber finally hoist the Stanley Cup.

Congratulations to Weber and the rest of the Canadiens.

Congratulations To GM David Poile

This coming Saturday, Poile will be inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.

Even if fans don’t always agree with some of the roster moves he makes, there is no denying that the Predators would not be the team they are today without Poile’s dedication and determination to make this franchise great.

Congratulations, Mr. Poile. Your induction into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame is well deserved.

Borowiecki Pens His Statement Of Equality And Acceptance

On Wednesday, Defenseman Mark Borowiecki penned a very moving piece affirming his statement for equality and acceptance for everyone.

In the piece, Borowiecki talked about how his on-ice persona is not what defines him as a person. He went on to say that his willingness to accept and stand up for others is a true form of masculinity.

It is great to see players such as Borowiecki stand up for their beliefs and others.

Some Preds Celebrating Birthdays

A couple of Predators celebrated their birthdays this week. Defenseman Dante Fabbro celebrated his 23rd birthday last Sunday, while fellow Defenseman David Farrance turned 22 on Wednesday.

Happy Birthday to you both. We look forward to seeing both of you hit the ice in the Fall.

And Finally, the Captain With The Future Captain

Captain Roman Josi shared some photos of himself and his son and future Captain Luca James.

Enjoy this time with your son Roman. They grow up way too fast.
